OSU Libraries 2007 Update

Service changes are occurring in the University Libraries system through Autumn Quarter 2009. The William Oxley Thompson (Main) Memorial Library is closing and the temporary Ackerman Library is opening. More information concerning these changes is available on the library's website.

The Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library will remain open for it's usual hours during Autumn quarter 2007.

Library Resources: General Information

The libraries at Ohio State have created a portal for accessing their extensive digital resources. This includes full text digital journals, Micromedex, MD Consult, Drug Facts and Comparisons, Medline, and well over 20 other major databases. Most of these can be accessed by our students from the Internet anywhere in the world.

OSU StudentsOhio State University Libraries house nearly 5.7 million volumes and receive approximately 43,000 serial titles. In addition to print holdings, OSU Libraries have access to over 350 online databases and more than 8000 full text online journal titles. There are many databases specifically for medicine and health, including several that provide full texts on drug information. Pharmacy students can connect to virtually all of these resources from home.

The Biological Sciences/Pharmacy Library, staffed by two librarians and three library assistants, serves the College of Pharmacy. The library is open from 7:30 AM to 12 AM Monday-Thursday, from 7:30 AM to 6 PM Friday, and has more limited hours on weekends.

At the beginning of every school year, an orientation on using the library is held. Students may also call, e-mail, or visit the library for reference and research assistance at any time. Students also have access to materials throughout the state via the Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK), a consortium of 84 Ohio college and university libraries.
