Bella Mehta received both her B.S. and Pharm.D. from The Ohio State University. She completed an Ambulatory/Community Care Residency at The Ohio State University. Dr. Mehta is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration and Department of Family Medicine. She also serves as Director of the Clinical Partners Program, a pharmacist-managed ambulatory care practice site located at The Ohio State University Medical Center; the clinic was nationally recognized as a Best Practice in Health System Pharmacy by the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacy in 2004.
Dr. Mehta’s experiences include developing and implementing disease management programs at a variety of ambulatory care clinics in the campus and community area. As part of her current practice, Dr. Mehta provides services in the areas of anticoagulation, diabetes, and cholesterol, as well as preventative health and wellness. She also manages a natural medicines consultation service where she counsels patients on potential drug-herb or disease-herb interactions. Her research interests include documenting the utilization of herbs and dietary supplements by student athletes and athletic trainers, assessing the impact of a pharmacist on therapeutic outcomes in patients with chronic diseases, and increasing awareness of herb and dietary supplement use and misuse. She has served in leadership positions in national pharmacy organization including APhA, AACP, and ACCP.
Dr. Mehta’s practice, research, and teaching activities have led to local, state, and national presentation and publications in Clinical Therapeutics, the Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (now known as the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association), Family Practice Recertification, the Journal of Extension and the Annals of Pharmacotherapy.
