Biography

Mr. Cable serves as director of professional experience programs, director of outreach and engagement (including co-ordination of the College’s State of Ohio and ACPE Continuing Education Programs) and clinical assistant professor at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Pharmacy, and has been the American Pharmaceutical Association - Academy of Students of Pharmacy advisor since 1991. He received his BS in pharmacy from the University of Michigan in 1971. He took a position at the OSU Hospitals and Clinics in 1973, where he practiced as a clinical pharmacist in both inpatient and ambulatory areas. He left OSU in 1982 and worked as a clinical pharmacist and manager in a variety of practice settings including long-term care consulting and home infusion services. He returned to OSU in 1987 working at OSU Hospitals. He was appointed Director of Experiential Programs at the College in 1990. His areas of interest in pharmacy education include communication skills, experiential education and service learning.

His awards include the Patient Education Award in 1988, and Pharmacist of the Year Award in 1989, at OSU Hospitals, Service Awards in 1993 and 1994, and the William J. A Bill @ Marks Award in 2001, all from The Academy of Pharmacy of Central Ohio, the American Pharmacist’s Association (A.Ph.A.) - Academy of Students of Pharmacy National Advisor of the Year Award in 1998, and designation as an A.Ph.A. Fellow in 2005.
