Pharmacology Graduate Program: Faculty, students and staff of the pharmacology program in the College of Pharmacy are located in two adjoining facilities - Parks Hall and the Riffe Building , and also in Rightmire Hall. The pharmacology program is primarily located on the fifth floor of Parks Hall and the fourth floor of the Riffe Building, and these two areas are joined by a connecting walkway bridge.

The College of Pharmacy is located in the five stories of Parks Hall and on stories four, five, and six of the Riffe Building. These two buildings are located in the Life/Health Sciences complex of The Ohio State University. The College of Pharmacy community consists of approximately 45 faculty, 100 graduate students, 400 professional students, 100 undergraduate students, 20 postdoctoral trainees, and 30 full time staff.

Office: Each student, postdoctoral trainee, and technician, and faculty has desk space in an office outside of the laboratory. Faculty have individual offices, while other program members share office space.

Shared University Resources: In addition to our own lab facilities, several specialized laboratory resources are available on campus. These include molecular and transgenic animal facilities, electron microscopy, protein, NMR, flow cytometry, and others. Faculty and students have access to all of the equipment in the Campus Chemical Instrumentation Center, including 300, 500, 600, and 800 MHz NMR's and high resolution mass spectrometeres. Institutional animal housing facilities are conveniently located on the 5th floor of Parks Hall, adjacent to pharmacology labs.

Library: The College of Pharmacy and The College of Biological Sciences share a library in the new Riffe Building. The library has a seating capacity of 250 and holds over 145,000 volumes. In addition, the Health Sciences Library is only a few blocks away and provides a vast area of clinical reference material. The University's library system is the 16th largest library system in the United States, with a collection totaling more than 4 million print volumes and 2.7 million microforms. With the advent of electronic literature databases, the computer in one's office is becoming the library. Ohio State Unversity through a state-wide consortium called OhioLink has electronic access to a large number of scientific journals.

Computer The College of Pharmacy maintains an extensive computer enterprise, with more than 500 PCs located in offices, student academic laboratories, and in research laboratories. Email services are provided for all students. The College also houses networked computer systems, minicomputers, and two Silicon Graphics workstations for molecular modeling work. Currently, the College also has a subscription to the Celera database for the Human Genome Project.

The Ohio State University is one of the largest and finest universities in America. The Columbus campus enrolls nearly 50,000 students who can take advantage of more than 170 undergraduate majors, 122 programs leading to the master's, and 98 leading to the doctorate. More than 7,500 courses are offered through the University's ten colleges, seven schools and Graduate School. Support for academic experiences is provided by many research centers, laboratories, and libraries.

The Ohio State University is the major comprehensive university in the state of Ohio. OSU grants nearly 60 percent of all doctoral degrees awarded by Ohio's state-assisted universities. Ohio State is home to Ohio's major chemical and biomedical research centers and the medical teaching complex, The Ohio State University Hospital. As Ohio's major land-grant institution, considerable resources are devoted to public service. Through its central campus in Columbus, four regional campuses, Agricultural Technical Institute, educational telecommunications programs, cooperative extension service, and health care programs, the University serves the entire state. As a major land grant university, Ohio State is also a national resource. Its fundamental purpose - in teaching, research and public service - is to enhance the quality of human life through developing the individual capacity for enlightened understanding, thinking, and acting. Through the dissemination of knowledge, the University not only serves the individual but acts as a force to shape society for the common good. As such, it is also a significant international resource.

A virtual tour of the central campus area is provided on the main Ohio State University web site. In addition, a map of the overall campus area as well as detailed maps of smaller areas are available. The Ohio State University web site provides a comprehensive overview of the campus area, academic programs, social and sporting activities, and student organizations.
