Enrique Seoane-Vazquez is an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Economics and Drug Policy at the Ohio State University, College of Pharmacy (August 2002). His previous work experience includes positions as a Hospital CEO in the Spanish National Health System (1989-1994), and as a Research Fellow in the area of pharmaceutical economics and drug policy at the PRIME Institute, University of Minnesota (1995-July 2002). He has a Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy by the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy (2002). He also holds a BS in Economics by the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain (1986).
Dr. Seoane's main areas of research interest are related to pharmaceutical economics and policy at the state, national and international levels. Recent research projects focus on intellectual property regulation, FDA policy and regulation, drug access, and pharmaceutical prices and reimbursement. Dr. Seoane conducted 28 research projects in these areas as a principal or co-principal investigator for a variety of sponsors including Medicaid, Ohio Public Employees Retirement Systems, Kaiser Family Foundation, World Bank, and the World Health Organization. He has also conducted research for governments, organizations, and associations of 10 countries, including Chile, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela.
Dr. Seoane has 60 publications including 29 articles in scientific journals, books chapters and published reports. His research was published in the reference journals in the area of health economics and policy, including BMC Health Services Research, Health Policy, Health Policy and Planning, International Journal for Quality in Health Care, International Journal of Health Planning and Management, and Journal of Pharmaceutical Finance, Economics & Policy. Dr. Seoane has given 96 national and international presentations in the area of pharmaceutical economics and drug policy.
