Admission criteria consist of such items as: undergraduate grade point average; graduate grade point average (if any); GRE scores; goals and objectives statement; past experience; reference letters; student's maturity, interpersonal skills, analytical skills, initiative, drive and ability to conduct research; and impressions formed by faculty members during the personal interviews. The final admission decision in the PhD program, however, resides with the graduate faculty members and hence, the applicant's personal interview with appropriate the faculty members is of vital importance.
It is recommended that students have taken an introductory financial accounting course before proceeding with the graduate curriculum. In addition, some courses in the program have prerequisites which can be satisfied by equivalent courses at the student's undergraduate institution. Students deficient in these areas may be required to take additional courses to satisfy these course prerequisites.
