T
he OSU College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Past Foundation, hosted a summer studies course for local high school students. The program, entitled “Pills, Potions, and Poisons”, was held on July 7-18, 2008 (M-F, 8:30AM-4:30PM) on the OSU campus. Through lab experiments, projects, and field trips, students investigated questions such as: How do drugs work? What is the difference between “good drugs” that cure disease and “bad drugs” that cause addiction? How do drugs treat pain, cancer, or infectious diseases? Why do only some drugs work in the brain? How do we discover new drugs?
