The OSU College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Past Foundation, will soon host a summer studies course for local high school students. The program, entitled “Pills, Potions, and Poisons”, will be held on July 7-18, 2008 (M-F, 8:30AM-4:30PM) on the OSU campus. Through lab experiments, projects, and field trips, students will investigate questions such as: How do drugs work? What is the difference between “good drugs” that cure disease and “bad drugs” that cause addiction? How do drugs treat pain, cancer, or infectious diseases? Why do only some drugs work in the brain? How do we discover new drugs?

The course is open to high school students in all school districts within Franklin County. There is no cost for participants, and lunch will be provided. For an application and more information, please visit http://www.pastfoundation.org/2008Pharmacology/.
