PharmD Program
The OSU Doctor of Pharmacy program has been ranked number 5 by U.S. News & World Report.
The OSU College of Pharmacy has been a leader in pharmacy education since it was founded in 1885. As a student in the College, you will learn from and interact with leaders in pharmacy education and research as well as an interdiciplinary team of faculty and health care professionals. In tandem with state of the art laboratory and library facilities, as well as The Ohio State University Medical Center (one of the most comprehensive health science centers in the United States), it's no wonder that the College of Pharmacy is consistently ranked as one of the best pharmacy schools in the country.
The College currently offers the following degree programs:
- Bachelor of Science in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Entry-Level and Non-Traditional)
- PhD (Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics,Pharmacology, Pharmacy Administration)
- PhD in Translational Science
- MS in Health-System Pharmacy Administration
Combined degree offerings include PharmD/MS, PharmD/PhD, PharmD/MBA, and PharmD/MPH. Pharmacy practice and specialty residency programs are available in a variety of focus areas including institutional and ambulatory care emphases. Post-doctoral research fellowships are offered for PharmD as well as PhD graduates.
Bachelor of Science in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
The undergraduate program in pharmaceutical sciences is a four year degree providing students with an introduction to the major areas of the pharmaceutical sciences as well as a general education. Graduates of the BSPS program will be prepared for graduate education, graduate professional education, or a health-related career. The pharmaceutical industry offers career opportunities in sales and marketing, drug research and development, quality assurance and professional services.
Honors Freshmen should check out the Early Admissions Pathway program.
Some BSPS students may wish to live in Pharmacy House which is a living-learning residence environment.
Professional Programs
The Entry Level PharmD – The entry-level PharmD program prepares students for licensure as a pharmacist. The PharmD program constitutes four years of study. The first three years consist of mostly didactic course work covering principles of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical care. The fourth year is full-time professional experience. Class size for the entry-level PharmD is approximately 130 students per year.
Early Admission Pathway Program - The EAP program provides advanced admission to the College of Pharmacy's PharmD program for a select group of Honors freshmen entering Ohio State.
